New Charter School Informational Meetings Castle Rock CO

A new charter school is under development in Castle Rock, CO.

World Compass Academy is a tuition free, public, kindergarten-8 grade, school of choice scheduled to open in the Fall of 2014.  In addition to a challenging research based curriculum for the standard Core Classes, World Compass Academy will also offer one hour of daily foreign language instruction.
Research has shown the benefits both in language acquisition and in other academic areas of beginning foreign language instruction at a young age.  Despite this research, most students aren’t offered any foreign language instruction until middle school.  World Compass Academy will offer foreign language to every student beginning in Kindergarten.  Elementary students will be offered two tracts Chinese or French and will follow the same language through fifth grade.  Middle School students may choose to continue study of the same language or may elect to begin learning a new language.  Middle School language offerings will include Chinese, French, Spanish, and one more language TBD.
World Compass Academy is actively working with The Colorado League of Charter Schools and Douglas County Public Schools.  They hope to have formal district approval to open this Spring 2013.  Interested parents and community members are invited to become involved.   Visit the World Compass Academy Website atwww.worldcompassacademy.com and/or to attend an information meeting to learn more.
